Barakah Box is a halal food support program operated by Mishka Social Services, in partnership with Show Kids You Care, the RBC Foundation, Hamilton Food Share, the Muslim Association of Hamilton, and other community organizations.
Through Barakah Box, we offer two core services: in-person food distribution and a reloadable grocery gift card program. These services are designed to provide flexible and dignified access to food support for individuals and newcomer families.
Barakah Box is committed to ensuring consistent access to nutritious, culturally appropriate food. Our goal is to uplift communities, reduce food insecurity, and ensure that everyone has access to the nourishment they need to thrive.
Register to pick up a box of food. Staple items such as rice, chickpeas, canned goods, etc.
Register for a reloadable gift card usable at the Eastern Food Market. Note that there is a waiting list.
Join our team of wonderful volunteers and make a difference in our community while gaining experience.
On October 15, 2022, we officially launched our gift card system, enabling registrants to receive and use re-loadable gift cards at Eastern Food Market. Since the launch, we have issued thousands of gift cards, providing vital support to numerous families in our community.
