Our agency aims to bridge the gap between current services and Muslims, as well as other newcomers, immigrants, and refugees.
The word “Mishka” is an Arabic word describing a niche in a wall where lamps are placed, radiating light to the surrounding areas. Our name embodies the principles that drive us as an agency – we strive to be a beacon that empowers our clients to light up the world around them.
Barakah Box, a halal food bank under the umbrella of Mishka Social Services, operates in collaboration with Islamic Relief Canada, Show Kids You Care, the RBC Foundation, and many other partners.
Community Services includes our Senior Wellness Program (computer literacy & friendly visiting), Sawa Program (school-based supports), and The Parenting Support Group (parenting education).
Our diverse therapists offer personalized support, including Arabic language services, for stressors like relationships and cultural isolation. Our therapists draw from their experiences to create a customized healing journey for you.
The Sanad Program provides culturally informed case management services to support immigrant, newcomer, refugee, and racialized adults, youths, seniors, and those with developmental disabilities connecting them to resources, funding sources, and services.
